Video Convergence Teams with InTranS Group to Provide Intelligent Transportation System for San Diego Toll Road: November 29, 2004

Traffic surveillance system and high speed, open-highway electronic tolls create a progressive solution to traffic congestion, highway costs and heightened security

Springfield, Va. -- November 29, 2004 -- Video Convergence, the security and video surveillance products and integration services division of Cornet Technology, Inc. (CTI), announced today that it has signed a contract valued at $3.4 million to provide an intelligent transportation system (ITS) for the 9.5 mile, four-lane, limited access, toll road portion of the California state Route 125 South (SR 125) project. The toll road will create the eastern leg of the San Diego beltway. As part of a team of contractors led by New York-based InTranS Group, Inc., Video Convergence will furnish a traffic management system consisting of closed circuit television (CCTV) surveillance, count stations, and changeable message signs. Video Convergence will also provide the network communications system for the toll road.

The traffic management system will monitor and manage traffic flow, convey information to drivers about road conditions and traffic alerts, and provide an increased level of security along the highway. The network communications system, an IP network over fiber, is designed to manage the video, voice and transaction data for the traffic management system and all toll operations.

InTranS Group is a leading global provider of electronic, contactless toll systems and is the prime contractor for the project. InTranS Group will implement the electronic toll system, consisting of 54 toll booth lanes, some of which will be equipped for high speed, open-lane tolling, enabling drivers to pay their tolls via an electronic toll tag as they pass through the toll booths without reducing their speed.

“We are pleased to have Video Convergence, a leader in security, video surveillance and ITS solutions, as a team member,” said InTranS Group’s president and CEO, Eric Boulard. “By adding Video Convergence’s expertise in ITS to our high speed, open-highway, electronic toll systems, we are able to provide a high-end solution that will help to alleviate the congestion problems in and around the San Diego area while helping to defray the costs of highway maintenance and operation.”

“With the increasing urgency in today’s society, there is a growing need for intelligent roadways to provide a safer, more efficient means of travel,” said Sunil Mehta, president, Video Convergence division, Cornet Technology, Inc. “We are excited to partner with InTranS Group, a global leader in innovative electronic toll technologies, to create a highway environment with a heightened level of control and security that also affords its travelers the convenience of high speed, electronic toll paying.”
