Cornet Technology Signs OEM Agreement with Calient Networks
Cornet Technology Communications will Promote Fiber-Optic Switching and Fiber Management Solutions to the Federal Government
SPRINGFIELD, Va.--(October 3, 2006) Cornet Technology Communications (CTC), the network communications solutions division of Cornet Technology, Inc. (CTI) today announced that it has signed an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with Calient Networks, a leading supplier of carrier-class fiber optic cross-connection systems. Under the new partnership, Cornet Technology will offer Calient’s DiamondWave® FiberConnect product under the name ClearWave as part of its total communication solutions to federal agencies. As an added value, Cornet Technology will also provide control and management of the new solution through its CorScan® software.
Government agencies are quickly adopting fiber-based communication networks. ClearWave is a low-cost, sophisticated solution that dramatically streamlines the operations of these increasingly complex networks. The system allows operators to remotely monitor, test, restore, and reconfigure fiber networks and also automates the adding and dropping of lines. These capabilities provide government networks with the high degree of reliability, access and flexibility required for mission-critical operations. The ability to automate fiber management also mitigates damage caused by manual manipulation of the fiber.
This automated fiber management system from Calient represents a price and reliability breakthrough in fiber optic cross-connection systems due to a series of manufacturing and design breakthroughs over the past two years.
“We view Calient as a key partner in bringing outstanding technology to the Federal market,” stated Tom Bennett, president of Cornet Technology Communications (CTC), a division of Cornet Technology, Inc. “Their fiber management products are an ideal fit for the government’s high performance networks. This agreement further expands our broad range of network solutions.”
“The same low cost and high reliability features that make FiberConnect an ideal fiber management solution for carrier networks can also apply to government networks,” added Calient Networks CEO Charles Corbalis. “Cornet Technology is a highly-respected integration expert in government applications, and we look forward to working side-by-side with them on these demanding opportunities.”
