Cornet Technology, Inc. Releases iVDO SmartEdge™ Video Analytics for its Ruggedized iVDO IP Encoders

At-the-edge video analysis brings intelligence to large-scale infrastructure surveillance applications

Springfield, Virginia—April 29, 2008 — Cornet Technology, Inc., a leading provider of ruggedized CCTV surveillance products, today announced the general availability of iVDO SmartEdge; a surveillance feature that integrates ObjectVideo® OnBoard™ analytic capabilities with Cornet Technology’s hardened iVDO IP-based encoders and VDOScope® video management software platform to push video analytics to the edge of the network. iVDO SmartEdge is designed for customers with mission critical security needs such as government, utility, and industrial facilities; transit and transportation authorities; and public safety environments.

According to Sunil Mehta, president of the Video Convergence division of Cornet Technology, Inc., “iVDO SmartEdge is the next step in our strategy to offer state-of-the-art surveillance products for critical surveillance applications. By putting iVDO SmartEdge technology on our temperature-hardened IP encoders, our integration partners now have a cost effective video analytics tool for their large field surveillance systems.”

iVDO SmartEdge provides security staff with better information faster, improving facility, asset, and personnel protection. It automatically detects security events and activity breaches, such as unauthorized entry and exit, unattended packages, and suspicious loitering, and issues automatic alerts. It also performs object classification and sends an alert if property is missing. By performing these tasks at the network’s edge, iVDO SmartEdge reduces network bandwidth as video is sent to the command center and to the NVR only when a violation is noted and an alarm is issued. This feature also increases system processing power, dramatically decreases the amount of computer hardware needed for central site analysis, and lowers overall surveillance system costs.

“Cornet Technology's ruggedized video encoder platform is an excellent fit for mission critical surveillance applications. With the addition of ObjectVideo OnBoard analytics, Cornet Technology's customers will realize efficiencies that range from increased operational effectiveness to intelligent network bandwidth utilization,” said Brian Eckert, vice president of sales and marketing for ObjectVideo.

A basic iVDO SmartEdge driven system consists of existing or new cameras; temperature hardened standards-based Cornet Technology iVDO IP video encoders with SmartEdge; wireless, copper, or fiber networking devices; and Cornet Technology’s VDOScope video management software.
